Apple has just released the tvOS 10.1 update for the fourth generation Apple TV following the launch of the beta 5 of the software for testing purposes last week. The tvOS 10.1 update includes behind-the-scenes tweaks and fixes, and some improvements. Noticeably, with the new software update, Apple has finally brought its highly-anticipated feature called Single Sign-on.

The new feature allows you to enter account details once which will automatically logged in all compatible paid video apps, eliminating the need to repeatedly sign into every streaming app with every update. As of writing, the new feature supports a limited number of cable services including Dish, Hotwire, GVTC Communications, and Sling TV.

tvOS 10.1 update also brings in a brand new TV app that works perfectly with a number of video services. There’s also a new app called iBook Story Time which is specifically designed to aid children in improving their reading skills thanks to its built-in interactive audio and some very useful features. One of such feature is Read-Aloud that shows on-screen subtitles, thereby providing children with a new method to decipher the word and correctly read it.

If you are now using the fourth generation Apple TV, make sure that you have your set-top box connected to your computer with iTunes installed via a USB Type-C to USB-A cable.

For those who may not know, tvOS 10 was first introduced back in September with tons of new features and changes including the new dark mode, smarter Siri search that now includes support for searching for content by topic and Youtube searching for content and more. Besides, there is also a redesigned Music app that now includes a dedicated Search tab and a new layout. For those who like watching photos on their Apple TV, Apple brings in the new Memories feature which gathers all their photos from similar dates or places.
