Apple’s annual September event is just around the corner and we expect to see a lot of new things at this year’s event. The new iPhone will steal the show, but we want to see more from Apple’s event. A lot of rumors have confirmed that Apple will be launching Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular connectivity at this year’s event.

The Cupertino company has recently confirmed that they will announce a new Apple TV with 4K support, but they didn’t mention an Apple Watch. Tech experts say that Apple Watch Series 3 will make its debut at Apple’s September event and the new watch will use eSim, instead of a physical SIM card.

Apple will be holding its launch event on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater. To help you better prepare for the event, we have gathered all the rumors about Apple’s next generation smartwatch in the section below.

  1. Design

Last year, Apple Watch Series 2 failed to see a radical redesign, as Apple only added GPS abilities and water resistance to the device. This year, Apple Watch Series 3 is expected to come with a design change, but it seems that Apple will stick with the design that we have already seen on Apple Watch Series 1 and 2.

This matches with previous rumors which claimed that Apple would upgrade the hardware only on the third generation Apple Watch while retaining the same design from the last year’s model. This will disappoint some users out there who were expecting an Apple Watch with a brand new design and slimmer bezels.

  1. Red Digital Crown

The Digital Crown is among the best highlights of the Apple Watch. With the Digital Crown, you can scroll, select items, and wake your watch. The next generation Apple Watch is expected to feature a red Digital Crown at launch this year.

Back in March, Apple announced the red version of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The new color option received mostly positive reviews from users and tech experts at launch. Therefore, an Apple Watch with a red Digital Crown button is possible this year.

  1. Cellular connectivity

A lot of rumors out there claim that Apple will add cellular connectivity to this year’s Apple Watch model, making it a compelling choice for users worldwide. Last year, Apple brought water-resistance feature and GPS abilities to Apple Watch Series 2.

Some recent reports claim that the Apple Watch 3 will use an eSIM and not a physical SIM card, and the cellular connection will be used for data transfer only. This means that users will not be able to take and receive phone calls, which is a little bit disappointing.

The Apple Watch 3 is undoubtedly the most anticipated smartwatch this year. The smartwatch is expected to help Apple retain its number one position in the industry. Let’s wait and see.
