With iOS 10, Apple has officially removed its classic “Slide to Unlock” screen, something we have grown accustomed to over a decade. If you now perform a right-slide gesture on the lock screen, you will be taken to a brand new Today view Widgets screen. This allows you to keep track of what is happening with your apps without even opening them on your iPhone.

If you are using an iPhone with 3D Touch support, Apple allows you to use 3D Touch to add a widget to iOS 10 Widget panel. In this guide, we will show you how to add widgets to iOS 10 Widget panel with 3D Touch. Before we begin, note that not all apps on your iPhone support widgets and not all apps support 3D Touch, so make sure that your apps do. You will be able to add some of Apple’s stock apps such as Maps, Weather, Stocks and Calendar.

Widgets are pretty useful, but they may come with some privacy issues if someone knows where to find them. If you want to maintain some privacy, iOS 10 allows you to disable and hide the widget section of the lock screen. Here is how you can do that.

Step one: Launch the Settings app from your home screen. Scroll down a little bit and tap Touch ID & Passcode

Step two: Once you are in, all you need to do is to tap on the toggle next to “Today View” and “Notification View” to disable widgets at your lock screen

Step three: When you are done, exit out of the Settings to complete the task
