Location-based suggestion feature is not new in iOS, as it has existed since the days of iOS 8. This year, in iOS 10, the feature shows up right in the lock screen. If you find it annoying then you can easily turn it off.

In iOS 10, the process is much simpler than what you normally do in the older versions of iOS. Here is how you do it
Steps to turn off Location-Based App Suggestions on the iOS 10 lock screen
Step one: The first thing you need to do now is to perform a swipe-right from your Home or Lock screen to open up the Widget pane.
Step two: Once you are done, all you have to do now is to scroll down to the bottom to locate Edit. Once you have found it, tap on it to proceed
Step three: When you do that, you will be taken to the new screen where you will see all the widget available on your lock screen. All you have to do now is to look for Siri App Suggestions and remove it from your lock screen
Step four: Next up, when you have found it, tap on the red circle next to it to reveal the red Remove button. After that, you simply need to tap Remove to disable Siri App Suggestions feature on the iOS 10 lock screen
Step five: Once you are done, all you have to do now is to tap Done to save changes
Once you are done, go back to your lock or home screen, swipe right to check if Location-based suggestion is now disabled or not. Note that doing this way will also disable app suggestions in the Widget pane.
