The new iPhone X is finally here after months of rumors and speculation. Apple’s latest flagship smartphone marks a big upgrade on an iPhone, with a new curved OLED display, small bezels and wireless charging.
If you just got the new iPhone X, you need to make sure that all of your important data are securely transferred to your new device. Apple is making transferring data between multiple devices much easier, mainly thanks to the company rolling out an official app, known as Move to iOS.
In this guide, we will go through the steps to transfer data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone. Before we begin, make sure you now have a modern version of iOS and a Mac or a Windows PC by your side.
How to transfer data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone X using iTunes
iTunes serves as the perfect way to transfer data between Apple devices, as it is safe and fast. If you need help, make sure you check out our steps below.
Step one: First off, plug your iPhone into a Mac or a Windows PC and then open iTunes (make sure you now have the latest version of iTunes on your computer)
Step two: Once you are in, select your iPhone in the menu bar (if you don’t see your device, make sure you re-plug your device into your computer) and then hit Back Up Now button
Step three: Click on Encrypt Backup and add a password to proceed. After that, unplug your old iPhone and switch off the device
Step four: Now just simply take your old SIM card out of the device and then insert it into your new iPhone
Step five: Power on your new iPhone and then connect it to your computer. After that, follow the on-screen instructions until you reach the Restore screen
Step six: Hit Restore from iTunes Backup and then click on Restore from iTunes backup on your computer. After that, select your recent backup and then enter the password.
How to transfer data from your old iPhone to new iPhone X using iCloud
Step one: Launch the Settings app on your old iPhone and then hit iCloud. After that, hit iCloud and tap on Backup
Step two: Next up, hit Back Up Now and wait until the process is complete. Once done, switch off your old iPhone and take out the SIM card
Step three: Once you are done, insert the SIM card into your new iPhone X. After that, power on your new iPhone and set up your device as usual
Step four: When you hit the Restore screen, make sure you select Restore from iCloud backup and then sign up with your Apple ID details
Step five: Hit Next and then choose your most recent iCloud backup (the process may take a while).
